Nowata High School’s Dillon Barnes is a three-sport athlete and is a few short weeks will add graduate to his list of accomplishments. Barnes competed with the football and basketball teams and he’s a member of the tennis team.

“I play football, basketball and tennis. I’ve played football and basketball as long as I remember and I started tennis freshman year and played all years,” said Barnes.

A running back and linebacker for the football team, Barnes takes his attacking approach to the basketball court where he plays power forward. In tennis, Barnes is a singles player.

“What I love about my teammates is that I grew up with all of them, so the chemistry when we play sports is great,” said Barnes. “I’m a senior and I want to go play football somewhere. But if I decide not to, I’ll be a full time machinist.”

In the classroom Barnes said his favorite subject is English and his favorite teacher is Ms. Lindsly. Barnes is also a member of the Bible Club.

Barnes said the most important thing are the people in his life away from sports.

“The people in my life away from sports are everything. I would drop anything at anytime to help them in anyway they need. You can always do something involved in sports, but you’ll never get the time back that you can spend with your loved ones,” said Barnes.
