Salina High School senior Allison Henson can now add Character Counts recipient to her list of achievements this year.

“I feel very accomplished and blessed to be awarded the Character Counts Award,” said Allison. “Good character, to me, means being a good classmate and friend by supporting, helping in any way I can, and pushing my peers to be the best they can be.”

Allison is enjoying her senior year to the fullest by being highly involved. She participates in volleyball, cheerleading, the MAIP Youth Marketing team, and her local church. Doing all these sports and activities will keep anyone busy. Allison makes sure to keep herself balanced so she can always give her all.

“I balance my school and life by doing the best I can,” said Allison. “I do this by trying my hardest, and knowing that what I am doing is worth it.”

Staying balanced is just as important as staying motivated in high school.

“I stay motivated with the help of my friends and family, and also by knowing what I’m doing has a purpose,” Allison said.

Being a senior means that you are always being watched and looked up to as well.

“It means the world to know people look up to me. It shows me that what I am doing is influencing the younger generation, and that I am making a difference,” said Allison.

In her free time Allison enjoys playing with her dog and spending time with her friends and family.

After high school Allison plans to attend college to earn a bachelor’s degree then going on to nursing school, and eventually becoming a neonatologist.
