Claremore Zebras - 2020 Basketball Preview Feature - Presented by Advanced Orthopedics of Oklahoma
Coach: Tommy Nolan
2019-20 Record: 8-16
The Claremore Zebras enter the 2019-20 season with a young squad, but head coach Tommy Nolan is optimistic they can learn and build off the back of a well-known returning starter. “This year we are very young, and we will be building around four-year starter Caison Hartloff. We expect to be competitive and get stronger as the year progresses playing a lot of young but very energetic players,” said Nolan. Hartloff (6-4, Sr.) is one of the top players in the area averaging 16 points with 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Hartloff will have some help in Matt Strickland (6-7, Sr.). The big man averaged 4.0 points and 6.0 rebounds a game last year to go with three blocked shots a game. Gannon Sheryl (6-1, So.) loves to attach the rim, while Michael McHugh (6-1, Jr.) will get inside and mix it up. McHugh averaged 4.0 rebounds a game. Drake Roark (5-11, Sr.) and Ryan Conner (6-0, Sr.) will see time on the floor at guard. Also look for Ethan Farstead (5-9, So.), a young player with tremendous potential. Other players expected to add to the overall success of the team are Tanner Steidley (6-0, Jr.) and Parker Hardage (6-5, So.). SOMETHING TO WATCH – The Zebras want to get out in transition and run the floor. Look for the defense to play it tight and only allow one shot possessions.
