LADY Ridgerunners

GIRLS

Coach: Richard Bassett

2019-20 Record: 23-3

A trip to the state tournament last season has the Grove faithful hoping they have what it takes to get back to the big dance. Head coach Richard Bassett is optimistic they can accomplish that goal. “We return a lot of experience this year that we hope will allow us to continue the great play we enjoyed last year. Making the state tournament was an incredible experience that we did not get to enjoy due to COVID-19. We want to get back this year so we can get the true experience,” said Bassett. Kolby Boyett (6-1, Jr.) is a true post player who continues to improve. Last year she averaged 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. Baylee Gregg (5-5, Jr.) is a strong point guard with excellent court vision. Leading scorer Rory Geer (5-10, Sr.) averaged 17.9 points and 3.3 steals a game. Rory can do it all on the floor. Dawn Blake (5-5, Sr.) can take care of the rock and play salty defense. Megan Gibbs (5-10, Jr.) brings her athleticism to the floor and could start at forward. Also look for Anna Bacon (5-8, Jr.) at forward where her ability to hit the three-pointer comes into play. SOMETHING TO WATCH – Rory Geer has made the VYPE Top 100 list since her freshman season. She is a UCO commit and someone the experts expect to make an immediate impact when she gets on campus.
