Pawhuska Huskies - 2020 Basketball Preview Feature - Presented by Buffalo Joes

BOYS
Coach: Talby Justus
2019-20 Record: 19-11
Patients and discipline are two key words head coach Talby Justus uses to describe the Pawhuska basketball team. Coach Justus does want his players to look for those early baskets in transition as well. “We are very big, have nice length and very ath-letic,” said coach Justus. “If we can develop some skilled shooters, and ball han-dlers, we will have a chance to be a really strong team in Class 2A. I feel defense and rebounding will be our strengths from the start.” Holton Justus (6-0, Sr.) can shoot the three very well and handle the rock. Once he is fully comfortable with the system look for Justus to excel. Justus averaged 13 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Isaiah Walker (6-4, Sr.) starts at power forward and is developing into a strong swing man. Excellent midrange shooting and his athleticism allows him to average 13 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots a game. Look for Jamar Goff (6-5, Sr.) at center where the big man averaged a double-double (12 points, 10.3 rebounds). Dalton Hurd (6-1, Jr.) is a tough competitor and a guy that can average 11 points and 7.0 rebounds a game. Also expect Mason Gilkey (6-3, Jr.) to shine on the wing for Pawhuska. Gilkey is a double-digit scorer and a guy that can finish at the rim. SOMETHING TO WATCH – This team is very athletic with great size. Goff is tough to stop inside, while Walker, Justus and Gilkey are a handful for anyone. Team chem-istry will be huge if they want to make a run this year.
