Copan junior Wyatt Davis has played baseball for over a decade.

“I’ve played around 12 years, first starting in T-ball,” he said. “And grew up playing through Caney Rec League, where I learned a lot and started loving the sport.”

Davis says that the best part of getting to play sports in high school is, in his words, “all the memories and stories you’ll have to tell when you get older.”

Davis also plays basketball and is involved in FFA at Copan High School. He recalls one of his favorite memories during his athletic career.

“Basketball season sophomore year, beating Hominy on their homecoming, thinking we were the weakest team on their schedule,” he said.

Although Davis still has a year left to play his sports he knows how quickly the time goes, so he encourages his fellow athletes to make the most of their experiences.

“Enjoy it while it lasts,” he said. “It seems like once high school starts the years fly by and after that you’ll work until retirement, so make as many memories as you can through sports, as well as friends.”

Davis credits his parents as role models in his life and is very appreciative of them.

“They’ve always been there for me, and I’m blessed to have them both in my life seeing as how a lot of kids don’t have that,” he said.

After high school, Davis plans to attend the Lineman program at OSU-IT and pursue a career as a journeyman lineman.
