Commerce's Eric Cunningham - Athlete Profile - Presented by Northeast Tech

Eric Cunningham is a junior at Commerce High School and a student at Northeast Technology Center where he’s enrolled in the Physical Therapy program.

“I always wanted to pursue physical therapy and Northeast Tech has helped me get started on that path,” said Cunningham.

The football, baseball, and track athlete understands why physical therapy is important for athletes or anyone recovering from an ailment or surgery. Cunningham said he enjoys the classes at Northeast Tech and is looking forward to learning more.

“It’s mostly been learning about the body and how it works. I liked learning CPR probably the most though,” said Cunningham.

But meeting new people who share the same interests has been enjoyable as well. At Northeast Tech, every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive in a great environment for learning.

“One thing I have really enjoyed is meeting new people with the same interests as me,” said Cunningham.

As a student-athlete at Commerce High School, Cunningham is involved in National Honor Society and student council. It’s not hard to stay busy when you play three sports. For Cunningham, being involved in school activities is part of the fun. After he graduates from Commerce, Cunningham plans to attend college and continue working in the physical therapy field.

“After I graduate, I plan to go to college to pursue physical therapy,” said Cunningham. “I think I can transfer all of it if I go into the medical field and at least some of what I learned if I end up choosing a different career path.”

Cunningham said if you’re a student in high school and you’re looking for a way to get your education started early, you should consider Northeast Tech as the place to start.

“Northeast Tech is a great opportunity to learn a skill and get a job using that skill after the program,” said Cunningham.
