Fairland’s Kaylee Wilson – Character Counts Presented by Grand Savings Bank
By Chad Waters
Kaylee Wilson has been playing basketball since she was in kindergarten, and now, after working hard on her game this offseason, the junior forward is ready to contribute toward another successful season at Fairland High School.
Wilson is also a member of the Fairland softball team, where she has played third base with a team record 62-31 throughout the past three seasons. Wilson competes in sports throughout the school year, competing with the Fairland slow-pitch softball team in the Spring.
Other than athletics, Wilson is involved in FCA, FCCLA, national honors society and serves on the student council. Wilson and her teams are hardworking in the classroom as the fast-pitch squad finished with a 3.77 GPA while Wilson has a 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career.
While a lot of high school athletes look up to college and professional athletes, Wilson’s role model is a little closer to home with her mom, Jennifer, and best friend, Alexis. “My mom has always taught me to work hard to get where I want to go,” Wilson said.
“She does so much for me. Alexis inspires me to always do my best even when I’m not up to it.”
Wilson’s mom is a 4th-grade teacher at Fairland, as Wilson has thought about a similar career path.
“I like to teach little kids, so I’m thinking about becoming a teacher,” Wilson said.
