NE Tech 250

The Northeast Tech Athlete of the Month is Caleb Buzzard, a senior wrestler at Jay High School. Buzzard wrestled in the 145 pound weight all four years of his high school career. In his sophomore season he placed fourth at State and was a state qualifier for three years.

“I was coached by some outstanding people,” said Buzzard, “I loved every minute of it, it was a grind but it changed me as a person and how I look at problems in life, it taught me how to have courage and fight when you have nothing left. Also just helped me learn to look at the positives and to be mentally tough.”

Buzzard is in his second year of the welding program at the Northeast Tech Kansas campus. He has nothing but great things to say about the class.

“You get out of school, so that’s amazing, you get to be around people that are like you and have common goals and similar interests. You get in there and work your butt off and I really like my instructor, Mr. Gaskins, he’s taught me a lot and I’m really proud that I go to Northeast Tech,” said Buzzard.

Caleb has big plans for the future. He is already in the Marine Corp delayed entry program. He is currently doing physical training with local recruiters until he heads to boot camp in San Diego on August 17. In the marines Buzzard will be pursuing a job as an aviation technician.
