Miami’s Skyler Judd – Northeast Tech Athlete of the Month
The Northeast Tech Athlete of the Month is Skyler Judd, a junior at Miami High School. Judd is a member of the soccer, football and cross-country teams. As a he gets ready for soccer this Spring the junior striker is taking on a new responsibility.
“As a junior I’m going to have to step up and be a leader,” said Judd, “ we lost a lot of seniors, that group really set a good path for us so I think this year all of the juniors just need to step up and lead the way.”
Last season Miami just missed the playoffs and Judd believes this year can be different.
“Our goal this year is to go far in the playoffs and it’s possible with our talent, we just must keep working,” said Judd.
Skyler also plays a key role for the Miami football team as the kicker and punter. During the fall his season long field goal was 38 yards and his longest punt was 67 yards.
His play in both soccer and football has drawn interest from colleges – NSU and Tulsa for soccer and Evangel and BYU for football.
Judd is in the Visual Communications program at Northeast Tech and has nothing but praise for it.
“I really love the program,” said Judd, “we’ve been making a lot of videos, first couple months was learning the software and now it’s a lot of fun because it’s all self-paced and I can learn as fast as I want.”
In the program Judd has learned software like Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects. He’s also been learning about virtual sets for news broadcasts.
Judd is standout in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA and is a member of FCA and NHS.
