Chouteau’s Debbi Hill: Mayes County Mom of the Month Presented By Red Crown Credit Union
By Ember McElrath
Always giving back to her community, Debbi Hill deserves to be named Mayes County Mom of the Month. Acknowledging that there isn’t a time where she remembers not volunteering for something, Hill says that feels blessed to receive the award.
“Volunteering has always been a big part of my life because I enjoy helping others,” said Debbi.
Currently Debbi holds a position on the Chouteau Booster Club. A typical volunteer day for Debbi may look a little different each time, but she is often helping with any and all sporting concession stands as well as cleaning and restocking for the next event.
“She is constantly helping out around the athletic department. She is extremely selfless in the giving of her time,” said football coach Aaron Compton. “Despite her son playing football, basketball, and baseball she is almost always helping in the concession stand, even if it’s not her ‘turn’ to work. I have seen her up at the football concession stand cleaning and stocking late into the night so that things will be perfect for our home games.”
Wife of 15 years, mom to two boys, volunteer, and full-time worker as just some of the titles that Debbi holds dear to her heart. Volunteering has been a way for the mom of two to get to spend more time with her boys as well as do something that truly makes her feel fulfilled, helping others.
“I want to be an active part in my boys’ lives and I enjoy helping others,” said Debbi.
Not only does she enjoy volunteering, but one of the favorite parts for her has been that she has been able to meet tons of new and great people while getting to be part of her kids activities.
