Red Crown Chouteau 1125

The Mayes County Athlete of the Month is a senior basketball player for Chouteau High School, Loribeth Miller. She plays the guard position for the Ladycats. Loribeth started her basketball career in the fourth grade and started playing because it was something her entire family played and something she had always loved to do. When asked what her favorite thing about basketball was, she couldn’t pick just one thing. She loves just about everything that comes with the sport.

“I love the competition it brings, the friendships it creates and the atmosphere,” said Loribeth.

Not only is Loribeth a busy basketball player, she is also a member of the cross country and track teams, as well as involved with NHS and Student Council.

Balancing teenage life, school, and sports can be difficult at times, but Loribeth makes the best of it.

“Sometimes it can be hard to balance because basketball can take a lot of your time, but I’ve learned to stay on top of school work and not to take a free moment for granted,” Loribeth said.

Her biggest inspiration comes from her wonderful father.

“He lives to watch me play basketball and has always been my biggest fan,” said Loribeth. “He inspires me to never give up and play each game like it could be my last.”

Not only is Loribeth grateful for the support of her parents, but she knows she wouldn’t be where she is today without the help of her coaches.

“They are so selfless and put so much time into our team,” Loribeth said.
