NE Tech 250

The Northeast Tech Athlete of the Month is Olivia Winkler, a junior at Inola High School. Winkler runs track and cross country for Inola. She competes in the 800 meter, two mile relay and the mile. Last year she helped the two mile relay team place second at conference.

Winkler is currently in the Health Careers program at the Northeast Tech Claremore Campus. The program is for one year and Olivia says it’s been a big help.

“I’ve already gotten my CNA,” said, Winkler, “also I’m currently working on anatomy and physiology, which will help us with school as well. It’s really hands on and we actually get to do stuff and not just read, we get to interact more and it just helps us learn faster.”

Winkler said the main reason she chose the program is because she knows what she wants to do and to help her get experience.

“I’ve always wanted to help people, so getting my CNA and then when I’m older I want to be a pediatric nurse so I can help babies, so this is just a good step to help me get where I want to be in life,” said Winkler.

Olivia is a standout student with a 3.6 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. After high school she plans on attending Tulsa Community College to major in nursing and pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.
