Kansas Lady Comets - 2020 Basketball Preview Feature - Presented by Northeast Tech
Coach: Steve Odle
19-20 Record: 17-10
Confidence is growing in Kansas as the girl’s basketball team led by head coach Steve Odle returns the team’s leading scorer and a great supporting cast. “The 2020 team should be better than we have been in the past few years,” said Odle. “We have everyone back except two players. We also have two young move-ins that will help contribute this season.” Kyleigh Ortiz (5-6, Jr.) is the leading scorer with 18.5 points a game and 6.2 assists. The junior also plays great defense and is the team leader in steals. Baylee Davis (5-10, Jr.) is a power forward and a move-in from Sequoyah. Davis will have a presence in the paint giving Kansas an option down low. Fallyn Tarin (5-7, Sr.) is an excellent rebounder and strong defensive player. Also look for Alyssa Tyer (5-10, Sr.) at forward. Tyer is a returning starter who missed most of her junior season due to an injury. Kylee Rollman (5-8, So.) is a young, but tough player in the paint and a strong rebounder. She fits into the overall scheme for coach Odle very well. If it’s toughness you like to watch then get ready for Maggie Barnard when she comes into the game. Barnard is willing to give 110 percent effort the entire game.
Something to Watch – Look for coach Odle to play up to 10 players a game this season, keeping everyone fresh with a deep bench. Kansas will likely play a pressure defense and a match-up zone.
