Captain and senior standout for the Pryor Tiger soccer team, Tyler Collins, has been playing soccer since he was just four years old. Soccer has been influential in most aspects of Tyler’s life.

“Soccer has helped me develop leadership skills as captain along with proper self-discipline and good time-management skills. Soccer has provided me with me with opportunities to create some of my closest friendships,” said Collins.

Along with the other great characteristics that Tyler has taken away from the game, he also feels strongly about sportsmanship.

“I feel like sportsmanship is essential because it is important to treat all teammates, coaches, and referees with respect. As captain, I have the ability to set the tone for my team and lead by example,” he said.

Collins’ willingness to always work hard is driven by his want to win.

“I’m super competitive and I’m intrinsically motivated to do my best. My teammates and coaches also play into that by pushing me and providing encouragement and criticism when needed,” said Collins.

Tyler cherishes the fact that he has a strong base of support on and off the field of competition.

“My biggest supporters are definitely my family. My teammates, coaches, and girlfriend are also all very supportive.”

In addition to playing soccer, Tyler is active in a variety of school and community opportunities.

“I am vice president of my school’s National Honor Society, a member of the Native American Heritage Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes,” he said. “I also participate in community service through the Boys and Girls Club Backpack program.”

Once Tyler graduates high school, he plans to attend either the University of Tulsa or John Brown University to pursue an electrical engineering degree along with an MBA.

When Tyler is not playing soccer, volunteering, or contributing as an active member of one of his groups, he enjoys spending time outdoors hiking or fishing as well as hanging out or playing games with his friends.
